About us

Established in 1999 as Tynedale Housing after Tynedale Council transferred its housing stock, Milecastle rebranded with its current name in 2004. The organisation has undergone further rebranding to strengthen its ties with the wider Isos Group, which also includes NomadE5 and Castle Morpeth Housing. Together, the Group is responsible for around 11,000 homes across both rural and urban areas of the North East.Alan Thompson in The Manors lounge

We have continuously striven to provide our residents with the highest quality standards in their homes, both by building new homes and through improving our existing houses.

We are committed to involving residents in the development, delivery and monitoring of our services and will give them as much help and support as they need to live comfortably.

We are committed to delivering extensive improvements to our tenants' homes and our housing services by:

  • Involving residents - we maintain a strong local presence, with a team of staff that residents are familiar with, and make a consistent effort to engage them and ensure they have their say on new plans and developments
  • Increasing choice - we are keen for our residents to have as much influence on their homes as possible, allowing them to make key decisions, from what sort of home they live in to what kind of facilities and services they need
  • Improving services - we have a strong Property and Building Services division, which also provides repairs and gas servicing for other organisations within the Isos Group and helps the local economy by providing apprenticeships and skilled jobs in the current challenging economic climate
  • Improving the lives of elderly residents - we are at the forefront of new thinking around older people's housing in the Tynedale area, where the ageing population is growing rapidly. For example, our £8m regeneration scheme at the Manors in West Wylam has been specifically tailored to the older person's market, with services that are fit for purpose and meet demand
  • Improving communities - we have a strong philosophy of working together with communities and through initiatives such as our sponsorship of Hexham's Under 9 football team, which includes supplying new strips as well as lending moral support at games, club gatherings and league events; and our sponsorship of Prudhoe's 'Easy as ABC' boxing club.
